First, most of the couponers on Extreme Couponing do not use coponus just for the sake of using the coponus. There are some, I won’t argue that, but certainly not the majority. Second, the show is deliberately making it extreme. Check the web for some of these people and you will find blogs, videos, and other media from them describing their experience with the show. 90% of them have stated quite clearly that they normally do NOT shop in the quantities they did for the show. TLC deliberately made these purchases as large as they were just to make it truly Extreme’. As for the crazy quantites, what you are not seeing (in most cases) is what these people do with them (especially the perishable food items). Most gets donated to the local food panty (which are ALWAYS in need of more and more food, especially in these difficult financial times).Extreme Couponing is NOT an accurate representation of couponing it is creating a false expectation as most of the savings are not as grand as on the show. Can you save a significant amount of money? Absolutely. Will you save thousands of dollars at a time? Most likely no. Do I recommend couponing? Absolutely. Over the course of 4 months, I have saved a little over $2500.Corrine = When a coupon expires, you throw it out (or recycle it). The food? Just buy what you think you can use within the time until it expires. If you do decide to buy vast amounts of food, consider donations to food pantries. They always need food and the need is growing each year. Non-perishable items are the ones that it’s good to stock up on; Health & Beauty, cleaning products, household supplies, etc.Lastly, please have someone read over your articles before posting them, the grammar was killing me while trying to read this. Just a friendly suggestion.[]Greg Reply:May 29th, 2011 at 6:55 pmAlthough I believe the information you provided to be of value to Corrine, I amfirmly against your insult and tone. You may be a smart individual, but you lackthe wisdom to communicate with others in an acceptable tone. Lastly, there arerun on sentences through the length of your post.[]poseur Reply:May 31st, 2011 at 2:30 pmI read it and had no problem with the tone: it seemed informative and to the point. Perhaps you’re a little too sensitive. As for the petty run on sentence comment you are incorrect.[]cheryl Reply:May 29th, 2011 at 9:43 pmCanned food does not expire, as long as the can is not damaged in anyway. I recently attened a class at my church on food storage.[]
